Your choice in adopting a pet is a stepping stone towards a no-kill city. Laredo Animal Protective Society (LAPS) will always be very appreciative those who choose to adopt instead of shop. Adopting is a very rewarding experience to all parties involved. Before taking responsibility for any living creature, please consider the following:
Do you have plenty of space?
Are you financially stable? Pets are very expensive; food, grooming, shots, heart-worm and flea/tick preventives are just a few necessities.
Do you or anyone in your family suffer from allergies? Time and time again Pets have been dropped off at the shelter because someone is allergic to them.
Do you have plenty of time? Many pets are dropped off at the shelter because they do not have any time to care for their unwanted family member.
Do your current pets get along with other animals?
Please understand that LAPS always attempts to best socialize each animal as much as possible, however sometimes it is not enough. Some animals will become stressed outside of a shelter environment. As you get your pet home and in its new environment, be patient. It may take a few days, weeks or even months to return to a normal pet behavior routine. The Laredo Animal Protective Society will always try to assist you and your new pet with any questions you may have.
Adoption Fees will vary. Please contact LAPS staff member to assist you with what the price is for each pet. Each Pet will include the following: current vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip.
