Surrendering a Dog?

We are a NO-KILL shelter. We do not euthanize to make space. Space becomes available when pets are adopted and new ones are moved up for adoption. Dog intakes are done by appointment only so please call our office if you wish to surrender.

We are a NON-PROFIT shelter and do ask for a surrender donation of $50 to defray expenses (veterinary care, food, shelter, etc.).
Please submit a picture of the dog(s) with information: vaccines,

SUBMIT A REQUEST TO SURRENDER A DOG

  • We do not accept dogs under 2 lbs or under the age of 2 months unless a foster home is available.
  • Dogs must be eating dry food on their own.
  • Absolutely no pets will be allowed with nasal discharge, eye discharge and/or hair loss.
  • Pets that need immediate veterinary attention will not be allowed entrance.
  • No aggressive dogs will be taken in.

Please understand that we do not have a veterinarian on staff, making it difficult to attend to those that need immediate attention. Apart from this, we are an outdoor facility. Very young puppies are barely starting to develop their immune systems and if they are too young to be vaccinated, are at risk of getting sick.

Dogs that are taken in will receive blood work for various diseases. Results must be negative. If the test is positive, a donation would be much appreciated in order to help pay for treatment.

All dogs will be vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, spayed/neutered, and given flea/tick preventative before being put up for adoption.

RECLAIMING YOUR DOG

We get many dogs surrendered at our shelter. As soon as a dog comes in, they are scanned for a microchip to locate its owners. We do not know the history of all of our dogs. If your dog was picked up by a good Samaritan, was brought to us, and does not have a microchip, we do take them in.

If your dog is at our shelter and you would like to reclaim it, you must show a photo ID and verification of ownership. This includes, but is not limited to: veterinarian bills, rabies certificate, pictures, microchip number, etc.

The reclaiming fee is based upon the following criteria/services provided:
Boarding fee (per day)................................................................. $15
SNAP 4Dx Plus test....................................................................... $25
Microchip*.................................................................................... $25
Other medical expenses (case by case basis)............................Varies

* Under the City ordinance, all animals leaving the facility MUST BE MICROCHIPPED.
